To be forgotten
England v Croatia
This game, quite different to the previous one, in that we had a new formation! Ok, so we lost, because of a bad performance, but at least we now know that the 3-5-2 formation isn’t for us! That’s the learning point!!!!!! McClaren admitted it and so hopefully we can move on to the next game with what we have learnt. That’s how things operate in other industries, you make a mistake and you learn from it, and that’s what we should do.
Those wanting to blame someone; don’t look at the goalkeeper. After stunning performances in previous games, this is just one of those days!
I understand you all might want a running commentary of the match, let’s just say the less said about it the better.
BRING ON HOLLAND!!!!!
England V Macedonia
A game which I would have expected the boys to dominate but this Macedonian team proved tough. The only thing to take back was that, they kept coming forward and for majority of the time our defences held up to the task. Our midfield was poor but luck was not on our side as well.
One of the commentators on Match of the Day said Macedonia were lucky not to be 5-0 down (something along those lines), my view was that we were lucky we weren’t 5-0 down from what I saw. When you play teams such as these you need to be able to produce a little, show a bit of skill and try new tactics.
There was nothing new with tactics, so we had to produce the goals, which we did not do!

I take your point on board S.H.A. but don't you think that was just the worst time to even try 3-5-2. I mean, in a qualifying match? Why not a friendly?
Like the Croatian (is that how you say it) Coach said. A team of Englands quality, should not be waiting to see how another team plays to decide their strategy, they should just go out there and get the job done.
Also, every single time England lose it's a different excuse. I don't really follow any other international teams, but i'm sure when the lose they don't come up with "The sun was too hot" or "We weren't allowed to drink water during the match". Just take it on the chin. You lost, try to learn something from it and move on. Instead we get all these dodgy excuses as to why we lost. Until we do that England will be forever singing "xx years of hurt".
I would also love to say bring on Holland, but i'm sure we can agree Holland is a better team than both Croatia and Macedonia, so i'll be watching that one through my fingers.
Agreed! But with Rio pretty much back (even with his claim of a stiff neck) and Joe Cole, this should give us a boost! Bring back the glory days!
I agree totally that friendly's are the place to try new tactics, but there weren't many choices in terms of players, with Gerrard being booked out and defence not all there (if you get my meaning)!
